Is the Ramapo the Jersey Tomato?

There really is/was no one variety of "Jersey Tomato".  It may be something about our soils and/or climate, but we do grow some great tasting tomatoes. New Jersey farmers grew a number of old flavorful varieties that when picked vine-ripened, had that delicious balance of acid/sweet taste that the Jersey Tomato is remembered for. Rutgers NJAES has been conducting taste tests for several years to determine which varieties capture the old time flavor.
